Selected Representation of Commercial and Residential Landlords and Tenants
Commercial and Shopping Center Lease Law
In its Alabama commercial and shopping center lease law practice, the Firm primarily represents commercial landlords in connection with tenant defaults, evictions, and other disputes arising under commercial and shopping center leases. The Firm also periodically represents commercial tenants in connection with disputes arising from a significant breach of the lease by a commercial landlord or the interpretation of specific commercial lease provisions.
Alabama Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act
In its Alabama residential lease law practice, the Firm primarily represents residential landlords in connection with tenant defaults, evictions, and other disputes arising under written residential leases. Although the Firm does not defend residential tenants in connection with evictions or collection actions, and does not represent residential tenants regarding routine maintenance issues, the Firm does represent residential tenants in connection with efforts to terminate their obligations under a written lease when they are experiencing a material threat to health and safety arising from certain conditions present in their rental premises, including, but not limited to, serious mold and water infiltration issues, serious and unrelenting infestation by ants, roaches, bats, mice, and other vermin, and certain disruptions in the delivery of electricity, gas, or water to the rental premises.
The Firm also represents student housing tenants and their parents in connection with unresolvable disputes they are experiencing with their student roommates or the student housing landlord.
